Homeopathy at a Glance
-
What is it?
Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that harnesses the body's natural ability to heal itself. Founded over 200 years ago, it is based on the principle of "like cures like," meaning that substances that cause symptoms in a healthy person can be used in small, highly diluted amounts to treat similar symptoms in an unwell person. Homeopathic remedies are gentle, non-toxic, and tailored to the individual, making them suitable for people of all ages, including children and pregnant women. With its focus on the whole person—physical, emotional, and mental—homeopathy offers a natural, personalized approach to wellness. It promotes long-term healing by addressing the root causes of imbalance, not just the symptoms.

How is it different from conventional care?
Homeopathy differs from conventional medicine in its approach to healing. While conventional medicine often focuses on treating symptoms with specific drugs, homeopathy takes a holistic approach, considering the individual’s overall physical, emotional, and mental state. Homeopathic remedies use highly diluted natural substances to stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities, addressing the root causes of illness rather than just the symptoms. Unlike conventional medicine, which may rely on stronger pharmaceutical interventions, homeopathy emphasizes gentle, non-toxic remedies that are customized to each person. This personalized care makes homeopathy a safe and effective option for people of all ages.

Has homeopathy been studied?
Yes, homeopathy has been studied extensively, with research focusing on its effectiveness, safety, and real-world applications. One of the most comprehensive evaluations to date is the Swiss government’s “Health Technology Assessment” on homeopathic medicine. This report reviewed randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials, while also assessing real-world effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The official conclusion stated, “There is sufficient evidence for the preclinical effectiveness and the clinical efficacy of homeopathy and for its safety and economy compared with conventional treatment.” This groundbreaking report highlights homeopathy’s potential in modern healthcare.
Classical Homeopathy
What is
As natural medicine gains popularity, the term "homeopathic" has become a catch-all for various natural remedies and therapies.
While we appreciate the attention, let's set the record straight: Homeopathy falls under the umbrella of natural medicine, but not all natural medicines are homeopathic.
What Defines Classical Homeopathy?
Homeopathy can address common ailments, aches, and pains, but it also has a profound ability to support conditions like anxiety, depression, brain fog, ADHD, behavioral disorders, post-concussion symptoms, and complex or mysterious health issues.
A thorough first consultation typically lasts 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the practitioner’s training and location.
Remedy selection is based on the totality of symptoms, rather than just a diagnosis.
Usually, only one remedy is prescribed at the lowest possible dose to stimulate healing.
The practitioner's goal is to match your unique symptom profile to a similar substance in nature.
These principles form the foundation of homeopathy’s three governing laws:
The Law of Totality – Treating the whole person, not just the disease. (Watch Video →)
The Law of Similars – Like cures like. (Watch Video →)
The Law of Minimum Dose – Using the smallest effective amount. (Watch Video →)
Did you know?
Homeopathy is second-largest and the fastest-growing medicine in the world.” According to the World Health Organization.
Over 200 million people use homeopathy worldwide.
Switzerland, India, Brazil, Chile, India, Mexico, Switzerland and Pakistan all include homeopathy in their national health care systems.
India has over 200,000 registered homeopathic doctors with about 12,000 being added every year. 100 million Indians depend solely on homeopathy for their medical care. India recognizes homeoprophylaxis as an alternative to vaccination.
Cuba has an incredible history with homeoprophylaxis in hurricane season. After hurricane Katrina, the potential for great suffering was so urgent that the Finlay Institute (the Finlay Institute normally manufactures vaccines for the World Health Organization) used a homeopathic remedy for Leptospirosis with incredible success.
In the US, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), over 6 million individuals use homeopathy, including 1 million children.
Homeopathic medicines are extremely affordable, especially when compared to pharmaceuticals.
Real health is more than no aches or pains,
real health is how we are in our world.

Homeopathic Practitioners
More about
-
Homeopathic practitioners come from a wide range of backgrounds—homemakers, social workers, mathematicians, doctors, chiropractors, nurses, veterinarians, truck drivers, hotel owners, lawyers, and more. This diversity creates unique and well-rounded practitioners, each bringing valuable perspectives from their previous careers. Most are drawn to homeopathy after a life-changing personal experience with its healing power, igniting a passion to help others find the same relief. For many, the journey to becoming a professional homeopath begins in the middle years of life, and as a result, homeopathy schools are filled with students of all ages, united by their shared commitment to holistic healing.

Homeopathy isn’t as widely known in part because of the nature of homeopaths themselves. Those who become homeopaths are independent thinkers, unafraid to question the status quo and unwilling to take the easy path. Their true passion lies in finding solutions for those who need healing. Homeopaths believe that every healing discipline has value and should be understood, each contributing something essential to humanity. What sets them apart is their deep curiosity. Rather than accepting things at face value, they ask the tougher question: “Why is it that way?”
Many homeopaths grew up with the same conventional medical systems as everyone else, but their drive to think outside the box pushes them to seek deeper answers. A student once described her frustration in speech therapy training, where the focus was only on practical solutions, without anyone asking, “Why is the speech not working?” Homeopaths continually seek to answer these “whys,” aiming to understand the root cause of problems and bring about true healing. The majority of homeopaths all had the same system of medicine everyone else had as kids, but this group of people tend to think outside the box to solve problems and answer the “whys”.

Independent, post-graduate programs offer professional education in homeopathy, ranging from weekend workshops to several years of study. These programs can include correspondence courses, lecture series, classroom learning, and apprenticeships with experienced homeopaths.
The regulation of homeopathic practice varies by state, with each having its own laws and requirements. Since 2000, Minnesota has passed legislation allowing unlicensed homeopaths to practice, provided they disclose their training and background. Similar legislative efforts are being pursued in other states to provide more freedom for homeopathic practitioners.
The Accreditation Commission for Homeopathic Education in North America (ACHENA) now certifies homeopathic courses, ensuring they meet rigorous standards for content and structure. ACHENA certification confirms that a practitioner has achieved a certain level of expertise. It's important to note that having a medical or other advanced degree does not automatically make someone a skilled homeopath. The mindset and approach of a homeopath are distinct from other disciplines. Similarly, a well-trained homeopath may not be licensed to diagnose or treat within the conventional system. A classically trained homeopath and an MD, ND, or DC with formal homeopathic training are on equal footing when discussing homeopathic principles. However, naturopathic doctors may only have a few hours of homeopathic training, which is not sufficient to be considered a ‘classical’ homeopath.
